I started my UI/UX journey at Drexel University in Philadelphia, where I majored in Interactive Digital Media (IDM). For my first year of college I was actually an animation major, but one year in, I discovered my passion for web design and coding. The IDM program taught UX research and design, UI design, web development, and information architecture. I also took courses in other types of digital media, such as 3D modeling (Maya), web game design (Unity), storytelling, film, photography, sound design, and new media theory. My favorite electives were Shakespeare, Math in Literature, Feminist Political Theory, and Art of TV Comedy. I also participated in choir almost every term, and played in a riot grrrl band called Cherri Cola.
For almost the past decade, I’ve been playing guitar and singing in various bands. I love performing at any chance I get, from playing loud rock shows, to acoustic sets at coffeeshops, to acting in my friend’s musicals.
One of my favorite activities is crafting, and lately that’s manifested the most in knitting. This is the second winter I’ve spent knitting hats for everyone I love. I’m also learning how to crochet little animals.
During the past 2 years of remote work, my favorite coworker has been my scruffy pup, Phineas. Each day, I parade this confident little dog around the neighborhood, of which he thinks he is the mayor. It brings both of us immense joy.
